Nidecker x SOREL Caribou™ Snow-G
Some products are part of a sport’s history. The SOREL Caribou™ is one of them. Back in the 1980s, long before modern snowboard boots existed, many riders relied on this iconic winter boot for its essential qualities: warmth, flexibility and freedom of movement.
For winter 2026/27, Nidecker and SOREL are bringing this icon back with the Caribou™ Snow-G, a snowboard boot that combines retro styling with modern technology.
An iconic silhouette, designed for snowboarding
The Caribou Snow-G stays true to the DNA of the original Caribou, featuring waterproof nubuck leather and its signature lower section made from natural rubber.
But beneath its vintage silhouette lies a construction completely reimagined for modern snowboarding.
Nidecker has developed a wider fit, designed to work with the geometry of today’s bindings. The boot also features a heat-moldable Silver Liner, allowing for a more personalised fit.
Modern heel hold
The biggest update concerns heel hold.
The Caribou Snow-G features a BOA® H5 Internal Heel Lock system, integrated directly into the tongue. It helps keep the heel securely in place while preserving the boot’s naturally soft feel.
And that soft flex is precisely one of the defining features of this collaboration.
Nidecker’s goal wasn’t to turn the Caribou into a stiff, ultra-technical boot, but to recapture the sense of freedom that defined the early days of snowboarding.
A tribute to snowboarding’s early days
This collaboration is also a genuine journey back through snowboard history.
When Nidecker began producing its first snowboards in 1984, dedicated snowboard boots didn’t yet exist. Riders made do with whatever they could find, and SOREL Caribou boots quickly became a go-to choice thanks to their warmth and flexibility.
Forty years later, Nidecker wants to bring this iconic silhouette back to the slopes, this time with the technical features expected of a modern snowboard boot.
Our take
With the Caribou™ Snow-G, Nidecker and SOREL offer something different from conventional snowboard boots.
Its appeal isn’t about maximum stiffness or razor-sharp precision. It’s all about comfort, freedom of movement and unmistakable character.
This boot should particularly appeal to riders who enjoy playful freeriding, old-school freestyle and snowboard culture, while still offering the fit and heel hold needed for modern riding.

Back to the Roots of Snowboarding
For winter 2026/27, Nidecker and SOREL are taking their collaboration a step further with a snowboard that pays tribute to the early days of the sport: the SOREL Surfer.
Inspired by a time when riders hit the mountains with far more basic equipment, this board combines a retro shape with modern construction and a riding feel that’s all about surfing the
snow.
A Shape Rooted in Snowboard History
Designed by Thierry “TK” Kunz, the SOREL Surfer takes inspiration from the early generations of snowboards, with its distinctive directional shape and retro look.
The longer nose and shorter tail help the board float naturally in powder and make it easy to drive turns from the back foot. The idea is simple: surf the mountain rather than just link turns.
Surfy CamRock Profile
The Surfer features Nidecker’s Surfy CamRock profile, combining camber underfoot with more pronounced rocker in the nose.
This gives the board plenty of response on groomed runs while making turn transitions smoother and helping it stay afloat in deep snow. It’s built to handle everything from groomers and powder stashes at the side of the piste to more adventurous terrain.
Made to Play
With its Mid-Soft flex, the SOREL Surfer is all about smooth, playful riding rather than brute force.
It’s a great match for riders who like to follow natural lines, play with the terrain and draw big, flowing turns. If you’re more into high-speed charging or aggressive carving, this might not be the board for you.
The lightweight core combines poplar and paulownia, striking a balance between low weight, flexibility and responsiveness.
A Limited-Edition Collaboration
The SOREL Surfer is a limited-edition board created as part of the Nidecker x SOREL collaboration. Its graphics take inspiration from the iconic Caribou boot, tying the board in with the Caribou Snow-G snowboard boot developed alongside it by the two brands.

Our Take
The SOREL Surfer is more than just a snowboard with a retro look. It’s about bringing a different feel to the mountain: more fluid, more natural and more playful.
Its directional shape, Surfy CamRock profile and Mid-Soft flex should really shine in powder, on natural terrain and on groomed runs when you’re in the mood to link turns with style.
And it makes even more sense paired with the Caribou Snow-G: two modern products that pay tribute to the early days of snowboarding, when SOREL Caribou boots were part of the kit used by the sport’s pioneers.
